Tai Chi

 

for people with Arthritis

 

Have fun while improving your flexibility through Tai Chi. Learn a modified version of this gentle exercise system which can help reduce joint pain and increase your stamina.

 

2 Sessions: Beginner and Intermediate

Tai Chi for Beginners:
Intermediate Tai Chi:

Wednesdays: September 8, 15, 22, 29 & October 6, 13

Wednesday October 20, 27 & November 3, 10, 17, 24
11:45 AM – 12:45 PM

Registration for both sessions begins September 1, 2010 for residents and September 6 for non residents. You may register for both sessions or one session. If you wish to take Intermediate it is required that you have already taken Tai Chi for Beginners or are enrolled in Tai Chi for Beginners in September and October. This Class is free of charge. Class size is limited to 35. Telephone registration is not permitted.

Computer Classes

Make Your Computer Work For You

In this hand on class you will learn how to add and remove programs, erase old files, check available computer space, get help from your computer, create shortcuts and many more things that will make your computer work for you. Registration begins September 1 for residents and September 13 for non residents

September 15, 2010 - 6:00 PM– 8:00 PM

 

 

Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007

Using the latest version of Microsoft Word, learn the basics of word processing including creating a document, saving, editing, formatting and much more. Some computer experience required. Registration begins September 21 for residents and October 4 for non residents.

October 5, 2010 - 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

 

 

Both classes listed are free of charge, class size is limited, some computer experience is required.

 

 

 

“A Tribute to Peggy Lee”

Vocalist Diane Hoffman and her band salute actress, prolific songwriter and sultry singer, Peggy Lee, performing such selections as “I Don’t Know Enough About You,” “Big Spender,” “Why Don’t You Do Right,” “Fever” and more. Peggy Lee had a long and varied career. She was first propelled to fame in the 1940’s while with the Benny Goodman Band. She wrote hundreds of songs and was nominated for an academy award for her role in “Pete Kelly’s Blues.” Diane Hoffman, a multi talented creative powerhouse is an accomplished artist as well as an exciting , dynamic jazz singer. She brings her painter's narrative appreciation and innate sense of tone and balance to her skilled jazz interpretations.

Do You Knit?      Knitting

Yarn and fabric crafters are invited to take part in Stitches from the Heart. Spend a pleasant vening knitting, rocheting, or quilting hats, lap robes, blankets, and other items for newborns, children in need and veterans in our VA hospitals. In just its first five years, this non-profit organization donated more than 418,000 handmade items to over 600 hospitals, charities, and community centers nationwide.

If you can’t knit, crochet or quilt, donations of yarn and fabric will be happily accepted.

Knitters,crochet crafters and quilters of all skill levels welcome. Bring a project with you or embark on something new. Patterns will be provided.

Students, take note! Earn Community Service Credits!

You'll be connected to a real live person who will try to answer your query using the latest information databases available. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
